L'Intelligence Émotionnelle (IE) : le levier ultime pour une performance durable – Plus puissant que l'IA !
21st of January, CCSF, together with SWEA Professional Paris, had the pleasure of welcoming Gaëlle Blanchard-Leclère on the theme of Emotional Intelligence.

Gaëlle invited us to better understand the functioning and importance of Emotional Intelligence in our society today, and the impact that this intelligence has on our performance, whether it is individual or collective, private or professional.

Valuable takeaways: For better communication, understanding, and performance in our daily lives, we should all work on our ability to manage both our own emotions and to understand the emotions of people around us.

The five key elements of EI:
self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, could guide us.
News from the business community
Scania France and Enedis signed-up for guidelines

The goal: to support the electrification projects of the manufacturer's customers and their connection to the grid.

Scania France is committed to supporting its customers in their electrification projects. This agreement, signed with Enedis (the main electricity distribution company in France), is a perfect illustration. It is part of the system put in place by Scania to facilitate the process for its customers wishing to electrify their fleet.

In concrete terms, before taking delivery of an electric truck, the customer must ensure that they will be able to recharge it on their site, which requires the installation of an electric vehicle charging infrastructure (EVCI). To do this, Scania France supports its customers by raising awareness, particularly on the need to anticipate and accurately size the electrical connection, as well as on the procedures to follow with Enedis.

This agreement guides Scania's customers in their electrification journey and allows them better to cope  with the challenges of connecting their EVCI.

Why are Nordic companies so successful?
In a recent article by The Economist, the spotlight was on the Nordic region—home to just 1% of global GDP and 0.3% of the world’s population—yet punching far above its weight on the global stage. From iconic brands like IKEA, Spotify, and the LEGO Group to leaders in telecom, machinery, and finance, Nordic companies consistently set the standard for innovation and growth.

Four key factors explain why Nordic businesses thrive:
  1. Global Reach and Diversification - Nordic companies generate only 2% of median revenue domestically, far less than their European (12%) and U.S. (46%) peers, showcasing their strong global expansion.
  2. Enthusiasm for New Technology - Nordic firms are early tech adopters, with Stockholm attracting more venture capital than most European cities, supported by strong social safety nets that foster innovation.
  3. Economic Freedom with Supportive Policies - Despite high taxes, Nordic countries maintain competitive corporate tax rates, balancing economic freedom with strong government support for business growth.
  4. Long-Term Ownership and Patient Capital - 80% of Nordic large-cap firms have long-term ownership structures, compared to 60% in Europe and 20% in the U.S., ensuring stability and sustained growth.

NEW YEAR, NEW PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL: POLAND’S PRIORITIES ON ENERGY AND CLIMATE
With the turn of the year, Poland took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from Hungary, a mandate which will last until 30 June. Poland’s work will be guided by its Presidency’s motto “Security, Europe!”, and is set to prioritise defence, as well as also ensuring energy, food, and health security, and promoting economic competitiveness. As the European Commission took office on 1 December, the Polish Presidency will take a particular role in kickstarting legislative work in relation to the Commission’s new work programme and priorities. Poland is part of the trio presidency composed of Denmark and Cyprus. This trio establishes long-term objectives and formulates a common 18-month programme to ensure continuity in the Council's work.

Energy and Climate policy priorities

The Polish Presidency will prioritise energy security and affordable energy prices, emphasising technological neutrality to bridge divisions on EU energy policy, especially between pro-nuclear and pro-renewables. In addition, the Polish Presidency will call for improved tools and detailed analyses to enhance forecasting and preparedness for cyberattacks on critical energy infrastructures while favouring stricter measures on Russian energy imports. At the same time, the Presidency will call for legislative proposals featuring concrete actions under the upcoming Clean Industrial Deal and the Affordable Energy Action Plan, with a focus on investment and funding. As part of the Clean Industrial Deal, the Polish Presidency demands an ambitious enabling framework supporting the industry in reaching the future 2040 climate target.

Next steps

The Polish Presidency will last until 30 June 2025. Being part of the same trio of presidencies, Denmark will follow on 1 July 2025 and Cyprus on 1 January 2026.
RIBERA EXPECTS CLEAN INDUSTRIAL DEAL TO SUPPORT HEAVY INDUSTRY AND CLEANTECH

Planned for 26 February, the Clean Industrial Deal – the Commission’s flagship initiative on clean energy and industrial policy – is progressively taking shape. Speaking at an event, the Commission’s Executive Vice-President for climate and competition, Teresa Ribera, said that the proposal will support the competitiveness of energy-intensive industries and the development of clean technologies. The Clean Industrial Deal will also have an external element as it aims to ensure a level-playing field for European industries, at home as well as abroad. The Commissioner for climate, Wopke Hoekstra, echoed Ribera’s comments, adding that the policy will target energy prices and slash red tape.

Key Objectives: Decarbonisation, Competitiveness, and Fairness

To support energy-intensive industries (EIIs), EVP Ribera emphasised the need for a mix of short- and long-term measures. These should include investments in infrastructure and tailored solutions to address high energy costs, while ensuring predictability and stability for businesses. On nuclear energy, Ribera advocated for a balanced and pragmatic approach, urging Europe to avoid framing the discussion in absolute terms. Regarding competition policy, Ribera’s focus is on fully implementing new tools while simplifying existing ones, highlighting that simplification is essential to building trust among investors and businesses. When it comes to state aid policy, Ribera clarified that the upcoming revisions will prioritise simplifying the framework rather than enabling unrestricted subsidies.

Next step

The Clean Industrial Deal is expected to be launched on 26 February.

An exceptional Exhibition of the French Artist Pierre Bonnard at the Nationalmuseum
Photo: Nationalmuseum
In the spring of 2025, the Nationalmuseum presents a unique exhibition about the pioneering French artist Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947), often hailed as the master of color. Bonnard had a remarkable ability to capture light and color in a way that speaks directly to the viewer. Led by one of the museum's art education experts, this tour takes you back to turn-of-the-century France to explore Bonnard's artistic universe.

Several works in the exhibition are on loan from prominent museums such as the Musée d'Orsay and Petit Palais in Paris, the Musée Bonnard in Le Cannet and the Musée des Beaux-Arts Jules Chéret in Nice. To highlight Bonnard's connection to the Nordic countries, the exhibition also includes works by Nordic artists.

Renowned French architect wants to create a new landmark in Sweden

Photo: AMF

AMF Fastigheter is expected to invest approximately half a billion Swedish kronor in a new hotel project not far from Lake Mälaren, as the search for a suitable hotel operator is now underway.

The renowned French architect Manuelle Gautrand, known for projects such as Citroën's flagship store on the Champs Elysées, has been commissioned to design the new 16-story building that will become an iconic structure in Marievik by Lake Årstaviken.

'This will be a landmark. For me personally, it is particularly interesting that the existing office buildings in the block are so distinctly postmodern. It's about creating interaction through contemporary architecture,' says Manuelle Gautrand.
